Готшед Иоганн Кристоф (1700-1766), теоретик раннего Просвещения в Германии. Внёс значительный вклад в теорию поэтического творчества (базовые философские и эстетические понятия), развитие немецкого литературного языка. Во всех своих начинаниях он исходил из принципов просветительского рационализма и задумывал их как реформы, направленные на воспитание хорошего вкуса немецкого читателя и зрителя (теоретический труд "Опыт критической поэтики для немцев"). Издавал еженедельные журналы, переводил французских просветителей на немецкий язык. Реформатор немецкого театра. В сб. "Немецкий театр" публиковал переводы французских драм и новые произведения немецких драматургов. Автор трагедии "Умирающий Катон". Большие заслуги в области развития немецкого языка ▲ "Versuch einer kritischen Dichtkunst für die Deutschen", "Deutsche Schaubühne", "Sterbender Cato" → Aufklärung
